    • Foundation Day Programme: To commemorate 60 Year of India's Independence the Academy organized a National Symposium on “Agriculture Cannot Wait: New Horizons” on June 5, 2007, New Delhi. At this occasion, His Excellency the President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam delivered a Special Lecture on “Innovate to Empower Agriculture”. Around 300 scientists attended this symposium, wherein the following very high dignitaries made their presentations:

    • Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of India's Independence, was held on August 6, 2007 at New Delhi.

    • Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Hon'ble President of India was the Chief guest at the occasion and delivered the Presidential Address on “Agriculture and Food Security”, which happened to be her first public address after assuming the high office of the President. Dr. Jacques Diouf, Director General, FAO and a distinguished Foreign Fellow of NAAS, was the guest of honour and delivered a special address on “Agriculture Cannot Wait”.

    • A consultation to commemorate International Day of Non-Violence (Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary) on Where Hunger Rules, Peace Cannot Prevail – A Road Map for a Hunger Free, Nutrition Secure India was held on October 3, 2007 at New Delhi; Convener: Prof. M.
